Transmission AFD-001

My noise

Can I make a signal in a world of noise?

These are my first words on this site. I could’ve made a simple transmission, I prepared a couple of topics before creating the site. But it didn’t feel right, I felt compelled to do something special, something more than simply sending a transmission.
It might be one of my flaws to give too much importance to unimportant stuff, I have many flaws after all; maybe if you read enough transmissions you might even be able to catch them all in a twisted Pokémon like adventure.
Don’t throw your balls at me though, I’ll ask if I need them.
But anyway, let’s not get dragged away from the main topic, my first transmission, special, here we go.

Hello World, this is my noise.

What? Who are you and what do you mean? Good questions. I’m not sure that I can answer them to your satisfaction but I’ll try my best.

Let’s start with the easier one: I am… A developer… A developer from Italy…
Too little you say? You’re not wrong, but I don’t want to share my actual name, nor where I’m located on the Italian peninsula or the like; I’d like to be able to write in this online space, venting my emotions and expressing my thoughts, without having to think about being read by a friend or a colleague. A bit silly perhaps, but I am a silly person after all.
Still, you are entitled to know a little more for sure. I’ll go into more detail on the , but I’ll give you a quick recap.
I’ve been a web developer since 2018, before that I didn’t have the luxury of working in this field, maybe we’ll dig deeper into this in the future, but I was still tinkering around. I touched game dev with RPG Maker and later with Unity. I’ve been an admin of an old phpbb forum for a couple of years. But before all of that I was a creator of blue screens, much to the despair of my tech-savvy relatives. Anyway, right now, I’m still a web developer that is trying to work on other equally interesting things.

“But what about the noise thing?”

Oh yes, the noise. If I look at the internet what I see is noise. Blips of data created for all the wrong reasons fill every gap of our limited attention spans. They don’t really provide anything useful, they exist with the sole purpose of grabbing some cash, getting famous. They’re just there, taking up space, wasting our time. They don’t provide anything useful to me, to you, or to the world.

The thing is that over time, these blips grew so much that when you access the internet you only see them. Together they create a white noise that fills your vision and deafens you.
That article that repeats useless info instead of getting to the point? Blip.
That website so filled with ads that it makes you wonder if the content is in the way of the ads and not the other way around? Blip.
That influencer that absolutely has to make a video on the latest hot topic even if they don’t have anything to add? Blip.
A 20 minute video that circles around without saying anything? Blip.
BLIP BLIP BLIP BLIP - Noise!

The thing is, the noise is so prevalent that you might grow to accept it as the new status quo. But it doesn’t need to be like this, there is good signal hidden behind all that noise. People that genuinely have passion for what they do, that really have something interesting to share, that want to help you with something, share a cool story, an amazing idea. You get it, there is signal in the ocean of noise. This is what I strive to make, a good signal in an ocean of useless noise.
But I’m not dumb, I know full well that many of those blips were made with the idea of making a good signal.
I know that I’ll probably be no different, so let me say it again.

Hello World, this is my noise.
